Geshelli and Acoustic Energy | AXPONA 2024

I’ve grown to love the offerings from Geshelli Labs at the last few years of audio shows, and this year’s AXPONA was no exception.  I suppose it’s partially because they’re a homegrown company in my home state of Florida, and partially because I really enjoy their products. What absolutely didn’t hurt was their use of the Acoustic Energy 520 speakers, cousins of which I reviewed and adored about six months back for PTA.  The combination of these elements made for a formidable room.

This year Geshelli was displaying their flagship Dayzee DAC, featuring dual mono AK4499EX chips, two TOSLINK inputs (192khz/24bit), two Coax inputs (192/24), two balanced XLR outputs, four unbalanced RCA outputs, TOSLINK output, and a coax output. The inputs are selectable on the front and Geshelli offers a custom wood case with aluminum front and rear plates. The Dayzee retails for $1,300.

Power was provided by Geshelli’s prototype Giuseppe monoblocks, which Sherri from Geshelli stated still had fresh solder joints from the factory. Price and specs are to be determined, but this new offering provided plenty of slam for the AE 520 speakers. As Geno Geshelli explains, “The monoblocks will be a Class A/B design. They should be around the 250 watts rating @ 4 (probably close at 8 also).” The power was clean and clear, with absolutely no clipping. The Giuseppe’s aesthetics carry over from the rest of Geshelli’s product line, with metal knobs and clear acrylic body plates to highlight the interior workings of the amplifier.

The folks at Geshelli seem to really like classic rock, and while I don’t do a ton of critical listening with 70s tracks I sure do listen to the hell out of them in my life in general, both at work and in the car. So, breaking out a few classic songs is the perfect way to show off their setup. Pink Floyd’s “One of These Days” off the Meddle album is one of my favorites, and it was pumped through the AE 520 speakers to pressurize the room with swirly seventies silkiness.

Geshelli is a company with which you should familiarize yourself, because their excellent price points may suck you in, but you’ll stay around for the fantastic sound.
