For the last few high-end audio shows, Margules Audio has been using a pair of big Raidhos to show off their fabulous tube amplifiers and other components. Not that I have anything against Raidho, but I always wondered why they did this–Margules has always made stunning loudspeakers of their own. So I was pleased when I visited my old friends in their exhibit room at the 2024 Florida International Audio Expo and found myself face-to-face with a new speaker–the Margules Orpheo Century Overtura (price TBA).

The Margules Orpheo line has always represented the ultimate expression of the Margules sound, a warm sound that instantly makes emotional connections with the listener thanks to Julian Margules’ research into ANA, or Aligned Neuro-Acoustics. ANA, in a nutshell, produces an “organic, realistic, dynamic and natural sound that generates a link between the source of the sound and the listener.” ANA focuses on harmonic structures rather than fundamental tones.
Paired with the stunning U-280 SC integrated amplifier, the Margules Orpheo Century Overtura speakers sounded exciting and dynamic with superb imaging as well as deep and satisfying bass. Julian Margules also had a surprise for me–he had “Chocolate Chip Trip” ready to go for me, and for the very first time. Those ceramic drivers in the Margules Orpheo Century Overtura maintained incredible control when it came to preserving detail in an organized and logical manner. Sure, the Margules Orpheo speakers are stand-mounted two-ways, but they go loud and deep with minimal effort. I’m really, really impressed with this new speaker.
Finally, I’ll give a little more love to the Viablue cabling in the room. I really like the sound, and I like the looks as well. (Can you say that about most speaker cable brands?) Connected to the Margules Orpheo Century Overturas, these cables completed a warm, thoroughly engaging sound that is practically the Margules trademark.
