Providing speakers for the pro and consumer markets can be a challenge. ATC has been crossing this line and re-defining what a great speaker can do in both industries. All the drivers, cabinets, crossovers, and electronics are all made in-house. This was solid ATC house sound, and what a great sound that is. I’ve been very impressed with Lone Mountain and ATC’s exhibits at previous AXPONAs as well as CAF 2023, and this year’s AXPONA kept the trend going.
Celebrating their 50 year anniversary, ATC (Acoustic Transducer Company–they were less creative with names 50 years ago) released the two-way stand-mount SCM20ASL in a dark blue high gloss lacquer. Accents include a front baffle with hand-upholstered full-grain royal blue Napa leather provided by the German leather specialists Eissman. The exterior alloy components are silver anodized and provide a contrast to the blue lacquer and leather. ATC’s famous 6-inch super linear mid/bass driver with the oversized dust cap has been mated with a 1-inch S-spec dual-suspension tweeter. The crossovers are active 2nd order Linkwitz-Riley. An all-pass filter has been included to optimize phase energy through the crossover region to improve tonal balance and imaging.
Supporting the 20 liter SMC20ASL in the Lone Mountain room was the C4 Sub Mk 2 Limited Edition. Sporting a 12-inch woofer and matching gloss blue cabinet, leather upholstery and silver anodized alloy hardware, this is a swanky system that will fit many different home decors or even a fancy studio. Lone Mountain says that the SMC20ASL Limited Edition retails for $13,999 per pair, and the matching C4 Sub Mk2 Limited Edition retails for $9,999 each. Hurry as supplies are definitely limited. Lone Mountain is the distributor for ATC for the consumer markets.
